Thank you....going to check that this afternoon. I'm just in the process of learning refrigeration/AC and really appreciate all the help I've been getting. This is the first forum group I have ever joined and wish I could return the assistance I've been getting. (I'm somewhat of a tech geek if you guys ever get stuck!)

Ice Machine Help??

1 other thing. on a small Hoshizaki, a few ounces over or under charge will screw up the ice. I recover them and weigh what I took out(find out if it was over or under charged), and weigh back in to make sure I have it right.

Thanks for the tip...I have yet to recover/recycle and refrigerant but learning that next week from my teacher. I will keep this in mind tho! One more question then I promise to stop with this ice machine: (hope its not a totally dumb question) Can I use a regular nylon brush or does it have to be designed for an evaporator plate? (Hoshizaki charges $100+ for one so there better be something special about it!)

Ok, so I have a lot to learn still! I thought a brass bristle brush would be far to corse on the evaporator. Well now I'm embarrassed...like my dad used to say, "you learn something new everyday"

Appreciate it.

I looked at the cubes. LOL

You may or may not do it yet. But after you work on ice machines enough. When you go out to eat and gt a drink with ice in it. You end up always looking at the cubes first. And think to yourself, ah a Hoshizaki, Manitowoc, or who ever, then you look at the ice and say to yourself(or friends) if its working right or not.

That's hilarious! I'm totally the type of person who'll end up doing that and probably drive everyone else crazy..

And I thought I was the only one to do that. The wife hates when we go out and I can tell her what mfg. the ice maker is. I also look up at the defussers, vents and duct work.
