i need some helpful advice on duct wrap

hi im pretty new to the hvac field but i really enjoy it. my company uses mostly steel pipe in insulation my lead hates using it and only wants to run flex duct and the only way he will show me to insulate it is with flex wrap. I've noticed that all the chage outs that have duct wrap looks neat and clean but every time i ask to use wrap insted of flex he tells me to learn it myself i would much rather use wrap i hate pulling the flex its messy and ugly is there anyone out there who can tell me how to measure and cut duct wrap to size properly? im not worried if it takes longer i just want my finished result to look great any advice will be greatly appreiciated and used.

Best to do what your lead guy wants. Flex is cheaper then hard pipe sleeved and a lot less labor then wrapping. Could be they don't have enough bid into the job to do more then they are.
