I need more heat!

My furnace was installed a couple of months ago by someone I recently realized was an idiot. There were gas leaks galore all along my gas line (which are now fixed), which seemed to be causing a supply problem. There didn't seem to be enough gas getting to the furnace to give me a strong enough flame to create enough heat to warm the end of a cigarette much less my house. Anyway, as I said, the gas leaks are now fixed, and the flame is stronger, but it still isn't strong enough to heat the furnace to the point that the blower knows it ought to kick on. I tried turning down the setting for what tempurature the blower kicks on at, but this just blows cold air through my house. My temporary fix is to turn the OFF/PILOT/ON knob to "pilot" for about 20 seconds, then slowly turn it to "on" until it just starts to give gas. This seems to have the same effect as holding my thumb over the garden hose...same amount of gas, higher pressure. But it doesn't last forever, the furnace only then works for maybe an hour or 2 at the most. I apologize for the long-winded post, but this is really starting to frustrate me, and it's starting to get cold. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

This sounds like you have a natural gas supply, with the orifice installed for propane gas.

Have the gas company service tech check this out.

Good chance, you have an undersized gas line.
What BTU is the furnace.
What size is the gas line.
How long is the line from the meter/house reg to the furnace.
Is it propane or nat gas.
