The Blower in the Air Handler seems to be running efficiently. There is no ice build up. All filters are new. The ductwork is free from leaks and or pinches..... "When the blower blows there should be air moving through the ducts and out the vents, but there isn't". I can't figure it out. Is there some "shield/damper etc.." or something that is between the top of the blower and the exit into the ducts that could be blocked/closed ? I am pretty mechanically inclined but I am at a loss. I do not want to start removing duct connections if at all possible. Thanks.
Thanks for the reply...... We called the company that installed it during the construction of this new home back in July 2005. The guy was as stumped as I. We went into the attic area and he messed with the ducts. The 16" return duct had come apart inside and was blocking the passage, about 8 feet from the handler opening. He said he has never seen this happen before today. He replaced the entire duct with a new 16" 25 foot section. FYI: We have a 3.5 ton 12 SEER unit with a 12" out,14" out and a 16" return that exit the handler. The home is @20,000 cubic feet. I have been told by many that the unit is too small for the volume and because I am located in South Florida. We keep it at 72 at all times and it works fine I think. The humidity level stays between 43% - 46% all the time. We only paid for labor so I wasn't too upset as it works fine now.
