I am having problems with my fuel oil pool heater

I am having problems with my fuel oil pool heater. Laars by Jandy. After bleeding water from the filter ,inlet line and pump I find that the fuel and water had emulsified in the pump. After freeing the pump of this I hit the reset button on the burner housing. (it was blinking at about 1 second intervals). Nothing happened and the system would not reset.
Do I need to replace this reset assy. It is a Beckett R7184A 1075?

Nothing happened. As in it didn't make a sound, the motor didn't run, etc.

Or it ran, but you had no ignition.

I am having problems with my fuel oil pool heater

Nothing happened when I pressed the reset button, No pump no ignition that I could hear, Nothing! And the blinking light continues to blink at the same frequency. I saw that a replacement assy. is almost $100.00 and I would like to know if replacement is the answer before I spend the $.
When I do get the heater operating I believe that I will have to install an inline fuel/water separator as I have had a water in the fuel problem before. Any advice would be appreciated. Fred

Its in safety lock out mode. Means it has tripped 3 times with no ignition.

It needs to be pushed in and held in for 45 seconds.

After you reset it. Don't push it constantly, if its not igniting.

Been there, I will go out and try to hold the reset for the 45 seconds. I did hold it in for a while but perhaps not las long as you suggest. Thanks Fred.
