HVAC vents location
1 Attachment(s)
I am remodeling my Kitchen and Dining Room, removing the wall between them and adding sister joists in both rooms to support future floor tile. my question is about the location of the HVAC floor vents. Original location is on the far side of the room by the exterior wall. Kitchen vent came up under sink cabinet and exited out the kick plate. I replaced the kitchen water lines and drain and removed the duct and want to put the vent closer to the inside wall. See diagram. New Dining room vent is also located adjacent to near inside D/R wall. Will this screw up my HVAC system? I can replace the Vent adjacent to the sink but do not wish to do so since cold/hot air is exhausted on the feet of whoever is standing at the sink. Any suggestions?

Conditioned air should wash the outside walls.

You can end up getting chills quickly in the winter, when the furnace shuts off. And feel warm quickly when the A/C shuts off in the summer.

OK. Thought so. Any suggestions on how to handle the kitchen cabinet and the vent? The air comes up from the vent into the bottom of the sink cabinet and exits out the toe plate into the room. I can move the vent to one of the windows by the exit door or place the vent in front of the dishwasher next to the sink cabinet.

Move it by the window.
