School just teaches you the basics and things you will never actually use in the field. I went through a program that was 5 days a week 7 hours a day for a year, so I don't know how they expect to cram that much info in that short of a period of time. You will learn the bulk of your knowledge in the field. Just try to learn from someone that knows correct procedure. You will be taught correct procedure in school, but everyone in the field does it a little different. I'm glad I had a person teach me in the field in the beginning. If not, you will likely turn out to do things wrong for a very long time.
