Hvac questions


How do u wire a two proung capacitor when you had a three proung capacitor already. Where do the wires go from your ac unit

You have to use a 3 proung cap to replace a 3 proung cap. (unless you use 2 2-proung caps to replace 1 3-proung cap)

Be careful that three prong cap might be a duel cap used for two reasons, one for a fan the other for a compressor. Check it carefully before replacing it.

3 proung capacitor supports 2 motors, one fan motor, the other one is compressor, so the 3 proung has 'fan', 'herm', and 'com' 3 terminals. 'fan' and 'com' connect to your fan, 'herm' and 'com' connect to your compressor. If you use 2 proung capacitors, you need 2 of them. one supports fan and the other one supports compressor. It is hard to draw a diagram here, may be you can find some pictures on the web.
