HVAC problem

Hi, I have an old Carrier furnace, circa 1983. The filter is good. The pilot light is on. When I set the thermostat to ask for heat, I hear it fire. The heat never blows into the ducts.

I went upstairs and looked, the pilot light is still on and the "box" labeled heat is hot, and the exhaust from it to the roof is warm with hot air.

When I turn it off, and then turn the fan controls on, the fan does run.

I've heard it fire on two or three different occasions, but the air never blows through the ducts.

Help!
