HVAC New Blower motor, which speed?

Hi, I just replaced the blower motor in my Trane HVAC/Heat pump unit. The old motor wouldnt turn on, even if I spun it with my hand. I bought a universal replacement (much cheaper and in stock), and it blows great now.

The question is, what speed should I use on the motor? It has high, medium, and low. I "think" the old motor was on medium (as best I can tell by the wiring diagram).

Should I put the new motor on medium also?

I have it on high now, and it blows great, but it seemed to be a little slow in cooling down the house. Maybe I am asking alot for it to cool the house down from 90. It has been running for 2.5 hours and the temp is just now 83.

Also, it seems a little bit weird that the blower motor has several speeds, but the unit only uses one of them. Was it supposed to use all three? Trane model # TWE048P130A0

Thanks for any help! Ken

If the old motor was connected to use med speed. Connect the new motor the same way.
It takes a long long time to cool a house down when its 90 inside.

It has 3 speeds because not all units need the same speed.

I changed the speed to medium. It never really seemed to cool exactly as before. I am hoping that by slowing it down, it will cool it better.:confused1:

Thanks,

OLD? His post was made 13 days ago.

and the problem was resolved then also. His post count would indicated that he is not a regular on this board so I would suggest you post a new thread and ask your question.
