HVAC filter rack install

I had an HVAC unit installed but they feailed to put in more than just the minimum Uclip filter holder. I would like to install a rack but need a few pieces of information that Home Depot will probably not provide.

I have a standard 16x25 horizontal duct to the base of the unit where the fan sits.

I want to keep costs low (3 kids in college)

What rack should I buy and what tools/parts are needed for installation?

I am very handy with repairing just about anything in a house but not good at designing solutions like an expert is.

if you have a main return duct from the house why not remove the grill and install a filter there,

HVAC filter rack install

I have 4 return vents (basement and 2 floors). I thought that the single racks were more effective filtration and it would be easier to change the filter. I will see what's at Home Depot but would still like the option of the single filter rack.

HVAC filter rack install

richers, You should be able to get a filter rack at any sheet metal shop. ( Snappy is well known and should be easy to get.
But what I don't understand is your not having any filter? How long have you gone without one? Did you look in the blower compartment, on the bottom or the side?I just cant believe that a HVAC installer would walk away from a job and not put in a filter. j
