Turned my AC on for the first time this year. Started to cool, but slowly. Temp in the house was 77 to start, and went to 74 in about 3 hours....then it went to 75. The temperature at the registers was right at 60 deg. The air flow seemed diminished at this time so I turned off the unit and opened the filter compartment....the filter was perfectly clean as I changed it right at the end of the heating season. Opened up the blower compartment and noticed that the A coil was frozen over. Opened the blower compartment and turned the unit back on, and the blower was operating normally at proper speed. The unit is now 10 years old and it is a heat pump with electric resistance emg. heat.(second stage).
So, my first thought was restricted air flow, but that doesn't seem to be the case. The outdoor unit seems to be fine, but can't verify the outdoor fan speed as of yet. Not sure of the charge either.
Where do I begin to trouble shoot?
Do you want it your way or the right way?
