HVAC Condenser fan not running

After getting 230V across the start capacitor, I replaced the capacitor and 208-230V 1075 RPM motor with a new Emerson with same values. The old one wasn't running, but the compressor was.

The brown/white wire went to the cathode side of the capacitor and the brown wire went to the other side. The black wire went to the black wire side of the contactor block and the white wire went to the red wire side.

The darn fan still doesn't switch on. ??????

Do you have an old GE or Trane unit?

Just check the mfd of the cap and make sure it is good. Then check to see you are getting power to your fan motor by checking at the fan motor leads. I have seen fan motors that didn't work straight out of the box, but I would check to see if you made a mistake somewhere.

The fan is running now. It was a sloppy crimp.
The air is moving upwards therefore drawing outside air across the condenser. Is this the right air direction, or should it be blowing down? Both my neighbors units are not running so I can't check.
