you have a heat pump the smoke you see isnt smoke its steam and its normal (called defrost cycle) you might need to have freon checked if heat isnt what you think it should be heat pumps blow cold heat sometimes do you have a thermometer you can read the temp with it might be only 80 or 85 degrees but that is still heat. did you just move to this house and not used to heat pump? what is the temp at the thermostat (the thermometer on the tstat) heat pumps have electric backup heat and when they kick on the heat feels warm but when they go off air feels cold again so main question is what is temp in house? and what is thermostat set for?

The outside large pipe is so hot I cannot touch it with my hands. The smaller size pipe is warm. But if it starts to blow cold, both the pipes go cold. Is that normal or what?

if it blows cold when you see "smoke" coming outside than it can be normal check your filter and indoor coil for dirt

You are probably right no question at all
that smoking time last maybe 15 to 30 sec. but units blow cold air atlist 5 to 10 maybe 15 munits thats where its geting me all worry i am not really sure if its normal to do that ( i know it sound strange) but i am just teling you what i have seen here
i was thinking about low freon ( if its low why its working just right for a while and than its acting strange blowing cold than going back to blowing warm air again and yes filter been check and coil been check clean caoil and new filter been put it in
Do you think i should be keep useing the unit like this or just put it on em mode or not use it at all until i figure it out whats goin on ? thanks
