Hunter Thermostat 44860 Issue

okay --- so here's the thing. my idiot husband got pissed off because i locked the thermostat and he yanked it off the wall.

now i am trying to install a new one (a Hunter 44860 which was the same one we had before). but, we aren't sure where the wires go now. somehow i have a brown wire that they never had hooked up. and the directions are for 3, 4, 5 or 7 wire installations and i only have 6. i put the wires back where they were at in the first place, but now it doesn't work.

does anyone have any idea about what goes where? I have uploaded a couple of pics to show you guys.

Hunter Thermostat 44860 Issue

If nothing works then you likely have a blown fuse or transformer in the air handler, furnace, or package unit (depends on what kind of system you have).

Hunter Thermostat 44860 Issue

Start by going to the furnace and verifying what colored wire goes to what terminal down there. As for locking out the thermostat and the hubby yanking it off the wall, suggest seeking a marriage counselor, due to there is more at hand here, than a controlling wife/partner.

Maybe something bad, maybe something good. I guess we'll never know, 'cause you're going to guard it. You won't touch it, will you?

I checked the furnace and checked all that.... it appears that they changed the unit out and when the previous owner put in the new one --- he spliced wires together, so the color coding thing is kinda out the window.
