Default Hunter 44668 Thermostat - Heat won't turn off
I just replaced a Hunter Auto-Temp II thermostat (44428, I think) with a 44668 with remote temp sensor. The system is a Goodman PH036-1a, about 12 years old now.

I replaced the thermostat about 2 months about two months ago, wiring it for a SSHP set-up. I wired it by color, and initially had some problems since the old version didn't have the Rc/Rh jumper. But I got the AC system to work.

Now, the temperature has dropped, and the heat came on for the first time. Except that the heat didn't stop when the thermostat limit was reached. I reset the thermostat a couple of times, with no change. I can turn the whole system on or off via the thermostat still.

Hunter stats are the worst..they are good for fishing weights though

Wouldn't give you $.01 for one. They do create work and $$ revenue for us. Hard to convince people they get what they pay for.

What I've found so far is, that's not a multistage heatpump stat.
If you put your auxillary heat wire on the W/B terminal, and set the toggle to SSHP, it will energize the heat strips the entire time it is in heat mode regardless of stat setpoint.

I recommend a Honeywell RTH7400, RTH7500 or RTH7600.

The summer heat won't let go this year. I feel bad turning off my customers' AC to test the heat for our prepaid mc accounts.

That backdraft lockout call was impressive Yuri.

We had 2 inches of snow last week. Too bad it melted or I could have FedEx some to you in a Coleman cooler. LOL

Are you absolutey sure its wired correctly (especially the reversing valve) and setup correctly in the thermostat options and setup? And the switch is set to SSHP? The thermostat should work (albeit without Aux heat). Maybe just a bad thermostat.

If you have Aux heat. It won't work correctly for your system.
You can get partial operation by removing the wire from the W/B terminal, but you need a different stat, since it will not support your stage 2 heat.
