Humidistat v. AutoTrac?

EDIT - Can anyone assist rewiring the humidifier to a plain old Aprilaire 4016 humidistat? The autotrac takes 6 wires (2 from furnace with 24v source, 2 from outside temperature bulb and 2 to humidifier).

The replacement (plain old humidistat) takes only 2 wires....

DO I just wire the humidistat into the circuit?

Again, any help appreciated.

OLD POST BELOW

Aprilaire model 560 humidifier in perfect working order. Problem is, AutoTrac keeps shutting it off after approximately 30 seconds or so, and the house is EXTREMELY dry (Chicago weather is here). This happens even when it is cranked all the way up. After it shuts off, I can turn it down, then back up and it will turn on again for 15-30 seconds before shutting off.

What could be causing it to shut off? Bad connection to outside temperature bulb? Extreme exposure to drywall dust during recent rehab causing it to malfunction?

Will replacing it with a new unit or with an analog humidistat solve the problem?

Short of buying a new one, or just replacing with a simple analog humidistat, any suggestions?

All help appreciated.

Thanks

- Manny

Humidistat v. AutoTrac?

31 views and no replies. I just want to thank you experts for jumping in and helping out the novices with their simple problems. (SARCASM)

I decided to rely on common sense and simply wired the 4016 humidistat into the 24v circuit with the humidifier. It worked.

Thanks again for all of your help.
