HP Defrost cycle

Hi all,

I have read that some heat pumps use timers to determine when to perform a defrost cycle. Other heat pumps use sensors to determine when the coils require defrost. How can I find out which method my HP uses?

I have an Arcoaire model # HXH536GKA100 from May 2011.

Thanks!
Terry

HP Defrost cycle

Look on the defrost board. If it has timer settings, its time and temp. if it has temp settings, its a demand defrost board.
