I have a oil fired steam boiler and this spring I had an electric water heater installed to save on using oil. Now my furnace was serviced and I think the tech turned on the valve so the furnace heats the water and it goes in the water heater.
Is it mandatory that the furnace heats the water since I am running heat now?
I don't want to use any oil to heat my hot water if I don't have to.
follow the cold water line into the boiler and the domestic water to the boiler HWH section should have a valve to close the cold water into it...that does it.......or check the cold feed to the new elecrtic HWH and work your way back to the boiler..just double check when your near the boiler not to shut the water to the boiler off just the HW tank feed.
