How to remove the blower so that I can oil it.

I have a comfortmaker gas furnace, Model G-11 400050-08M, the year is 1980. It says to remove the blower and oil in the front and back. It appears that it will slide part of the way out. Do I need to remove any of the wiring harness or wiring?

It should be able to just be oiled without it's complete removal.
Can you see the oil port on the visable part of the motor? You may have to remove an oil plug. It is usually on the top edge of the motor or in a slight depression on its end. It will also have a matching oil port in the same position on the other end of the motor inside the fan cage. Turn off the power to the furnace and you can each in to feel it. If that has an oil plug in place, you can remove it with needlenose plyers. You then need to bend the tip of a zoom oiler 90 degrees to reach it. Non detergent oil only.
Probably best to send us a picture first of what is visable of the motor.
Some replacement direct drive motors from mexico have only one oil port.

I don't know where you are or what stores you have near you.
If you can't find Non-Detergent motor oil easily, most places have what is called 3in1 oil which is non-detergent.
Or maybe you could borrow a 1/2 oz from a garage in 20 weight.

Only Three in One Motor oil is non detergent. The regular Three in One brand is not.

Any auto parts store, Wal Mart, even the Dollar store will have straight 30 wt. oil.

red can 3 in 1 oil in not to be used on motor bearings. it contains naptha. the other (green can i think) is labled for motor bearings.

If using automotive motor (really engine oil) it must be non-detergent. it will be labled ND 30. all other automotive oils are high detergent which are not to be used. (hd 30, 10w-30, 0w-50, etc)

if detergent oil is used it will eat the bearing, if used i would flush them with plenty of 30 nd.

bernie

ps straight weight oil comes in both ND and HD. only use ND.

Hopefully they haven't changed the color. My shampoo brand keeps changing the color and graphics between my purchases and I'm never sure I'm buying the same stuff; the little things in life!
