How to Prime Oil Furnace Pump
I have just about completed the installation of my fuel oil boiler.
Since I have not hooked the return line up frorm the pump, for a two line setup.
How do I prime the system?
The boiler is in the basement and the fuel oil tank is buried outside of the basement.
The boiler pump is below the oil tank, however, the fuel lines enter the basement, go up to the main I beam and then across approximatly 30' and then down to the pump.
I estimate there to be approximately 45' - 50' of 3/8 oil line.
Is it as simple as cracking open the bleeder valve with a jar under it and turning the boiler on and letting the pump go to work sucting the oil in?
Will the burner go into a fault/protect mode if it takes too long for the oil to come?
