how often should my furnace flue be cleaned?

i have a fireplace, but have never used it, and don't plan on it. I do have a oil-fired boiler. How often should the boiler flue be cleaned?

Ideally HVAC systems should be serviced annually, if not twice for major seasons, and this should include at least inspecting the flu for the system. A maintenance call will improve the efficiency of the system and is certainly cheaper than a flu fire.
