How much for a new furnace?

It is an ancient VERY well established Cdn company like Sears Roebuck with incredible loyalty amongst Cdns. Very working class and put on great sales unlike the big box stores who rip you something fierce.

How much for a new furnace?

A rough estimate: 75% of the furnaces I have serviced or replaced have been installed incorrectly:

1. Furnace too big
2. Ductwork too small
3. You look at the furnace and the old boxes from Replacement parts like safety limits, ignitors are stacked up because the furnace overheats. and you then have to consider the HX is compromised.

My estimate includes proper sizing (manual j), duct evaluation (manual d) and then the price is derived from there for what you NEED. Furnaces/AC's/HP's are integrated with your home and ductwork and are NOT appliances like fridges or stoves or microwaves.

Depends on what ya need

Do you want a new furnace that only lasted 10 years slapped back where the old one was...same size...same problems...same inefficiency....when they overheat and shut-off and then restart and then completely repeat the cycle, wearing out the parts and stressing the HX? The HX goes to about 180 degrees....shuts off....resets the limit...restarts goes back to 180 instead of going to 130 degrees and running steady-state... I WANT steady state operation....

My first house had the opposite problem Technow sites: the furnace was so undersized, it would run and run and the house would never warm up.
If the OP is still around, call a couple local HVAC contractors in your phone book to come out and take a look.
