How long for the thermocouple to shut off the gas?
Just replaced the thermocouple in my Carrier furnace. This seems to have fixed my pilot light issue. I guess I'm just being paranoid, but I wanted to test and make sure IF the pilot light goes or blows out, the thermocouple will automatically shut off the gas to the pilot light.
So after it has been working a while, I blew out the pilot light myself.
It takes about 25 seconds for the thermocouple to cool down and the relay to turn off the gas.
My question is this - is 25 seconds or so normal? I guess I though it would cool down and turn off the pilot gas in 3-6 seconds or so??
Thanks in advance.
