How to hang fiberboard with straps

Can anyone show me a photo of the correct way to hang fiberboard duct work with plastic straps? The HVAC company that sold me my system gave me a roll of hard plastic (with prepunched nail holes) to use as the straps to hang my fiberboard duct work. What I don't understand is when I nail the strap to the joist, the strap is now twisted and doesn't lay flat against the duct work. Is the strap supposed to be nailed on the side of the joist or bottom of the joist.

Why is it twisted? It came on a roll, right?

Fasten it to the bottom of the joist.
