How to glue on insulation to heater cabinet?

I would like to glue a thin layer of insulation to the outside of a wall heater cabinet. Does anyone have any suggestions as to materials?

I would rather not use fiberglass insulation. Would high temp rated silicone rubber work?

Thanks

just a thought but you may create an overheating condition by not letting the heat dissipate

Yep.

Plus. If the cabinet is getting to hot. You will be covering up a series problem. And causing a fire hazzard.

Why do you want to insulate it.

I just want to cover certain spots.

The old wall heater was placed in a spot where it had no clearance. I want insulation where the cabinet is close to the wall.

Unless the install instructions say you can insulate it. You are not allowed.
If the install instructions require X amount of clearance. Thats what you need.
Possible way around with insulation. Is you would need fire resistant insulation. Like used in commercial buildings.
But, your local code enforcement would need to approve it.

Or your insurance company doesn't have to pay, if something goes wrong.
