How come you can only find Goodman and Rheem HVAC system on internet?

There are many websites that make HVAC systems available directly to consumers, but really only two traditional brands are available. Rheem, Goodman and its derivative brands. Many also offers Fedders, Haire, LG and Mitsubishi.

Is Rheem considered to be same of similar quality reputation as Goodman?

maybe because the others simply do not wish to sell directly to consumers. That way, they help ensure their products will be installed by professionals and that alone guarantees fewer problems and unneeded warranty issues.

What separates the HVAC PROFESSIONAL from the non pro is the PRO does not know all the answers, but he knows where to find them.

I have no problem locating parts on the inter net.

Both Goodman and Rheem have anti-internet sale statements and condemn it.

So, why are they still easily available to consumers, but not Trane, Carrier or Lennox?

because the guys selling them couldn't figure out how to circumvent the same restrictions they did with Rheem and Goodman.

I know many associate Goodman as the Pinto of HVAC while Trane a Cadillac. So, is Rheem considered just a notch better than Goodman?

Goodman IMO in the last 2-3 yrs has gotten a lot better with using Amana technology and standards. Rheem is a bit better but no Cadillac IMO.I like their spark ignition system and their boards last well. Everything is built for a price point and not necessarily quality. You get what you pay for.
Lots of the major brands are going with a 3 tier pricing and quality system for their products. Good, better, best. You choose. The higher SEER Goodmans are quiet and the variable speed furnace is nice.

Lennox and Carrier where I am won`t sell cash carry to anyone. Must be a well established dealer with reasonable standards. Protects their reputation from being hacked up by the Joe`s heatem and cheat em clowns.

There are some on line stores/dealers that do sell York, or carrier, or Trane.

Every once in a while, you find someone selling lennox also. But, as soon as its reported to lennox, lennox contacts that dealer, and informs them that they will lose their dealership if they don't remove the lennox equipment from the website immediately. Lennox is real protective of their dealers territories.

Carrier is also protective of their dealers territory, so they are sold over the net as much either.

Trane, well, they just aren't a cheap unit no matter what.

Sites selling a brand open and close fairly often. And if you catch them at the right time, you can buy one of the other name brands. Just got to wonder if you can get any support from them if they close up a month after you buy the unit.

PS: You can find Lennox units still being sold on ebay.

Trane is good but very expensive to buy where I am and not popular for that reason. Not sure how they figure they can charge more for the same product. Never got a good foothold here as Lennox manufactured in Alberta, plus ICG/ICP in Wpg and a heavy duty local brand Furnasman corned the market. Lennox is VERY protective of their brand name. Won't stick it on an Armstrong or AireFlo even though they own them. Carrier is quite protective and won't sell any cash carry parts thru their distributor, who they own.

Absolutely right, the online guy who sells you your unit may be "off line" soon. Try get support then.

Lennox tracks the serial #s of their units VERY carefully and knows exactly where they are being sold. Probably true with Carrier also.

I once was calling the local Luxaire dealer here, to get a warranty part. I kicked 2 numbers in the serial number.

They had me go and get the indoor units numbers. To see if someone had stolen the units, or if they had been resold. They told me the outdoor unit had been sent to a distributor in NJ, and sold to XYZ dealer in NJ, and register to Mr. and Mrs. so and so. Warranty was going to be voided if stolen or resold.

When I discovered that I kicked the serial number. They settled down.
They can tell a lot from a serial number.

They can even catch a crooked/stealin/thief of an employee who sold a company AC to his neighbor. Unfortunately the neighbor called the ripped off company for an annual service believing "Bob" had sold it thru his employer, OOOPS, Bob got caught. Not the sharpest knife in the drawer Bob wuz.
