House a/c coils

How and what I would use to clean my house a/c coils on a up and down unit that is in a closet

i used a vacuum cleaner with a brush on the end of the hose. and my A coil was about 90% clogged.

vacuum cleaner may not work completely as the condensate tends to make a nice dried on layer.

coil cleaner does a remarkably good job, followed by a quick hose off (garden sprayer full of water) and vacuum.

Cleaning the coil is the easy part.
GETTING to the coil... well, that can be tricky.

WHOA ! ! This video leaves out the most important part before he even lights the torch: Evacuating the freon. NOT something a homeowner can, or should even be trying to do.

Yeah..... You don't want to be getting a flame anywhere near refrigerant..... unless you have good life insurance....... and don't mind a painful agonizing death.

Not sure why this thread isnt in the ac forum, but no need to remove the couil from the air handler. yes, its tougher to clean, but man, no need to evacuate/solder/weld, etc/ Put on safety glasses, f;lashlight, pump sprayer, get underneat it!!! Thats it! Oh, once you soften up the crud, as it IS encrusted on hard, start brushing the crud ooze/hair mat off with a stiff, but very narrow grout cleaning brush. Start up high (at the "V"), then work down.

Works for me every time!! Ive done many of them!
good luck.

well. i guess i got lucky. my crud was not baked on. perhaps because it is only 5 years old. i think much/most of it was dog hair, from the PO's
