Hot Water Baseboard Heat - No heat upstairs
 

Hope someone can help as I'm completely lost....

I got a new gas-boiler last year (Weil McClain cGA). I've got a small Cape-Cod with baseboard heat and the down stairs pipes are hot but when touching the pipes upstairs they are cold to the touch. I've got 2 thermastats, but I believe only 1 zone. (Is this possible)?? I don't understand what is meant by zones.

Both thermastats are on and set to 70. But no heat upstairs. And of course the down stairs is only about 61-62 since it's trying to heat the entire house.

I think I've purged the line, but how do I know if it's done and there is no air?

Will try to post pics tonight of the boiler.

Ayuh,... Are there any air bleeder fittin's in the upstairs loop,..??

What's the pressure, 'n temp at the boiler's gauge,..??

Right now the boiler is set to about 32 psi.


As for the bleeder fittings, how would I know?

Most residential boilers will start venting through the pressure relief valve at anything above 30 PSI.
12 to 15 PSI should do your two story home.
A zone is loop of piping that heats an area of your home. It gives you the opportunity to heat different areas to different temps. Two zones should mean two separate thermostats????
No heat upstairs could be an air lock or a faulty zone valve.

Do you have bleed valves on the ends of your rads?
Post pic's of your tridicator, zone valves and the pressure reducing valve.

Ayuh,... 32 psi is Way to High,... should be in the 12/ 15 psi range....

Yer auto-feed, 'n/ or the bladder tank ain't doin' their jobs...

As for the Bleeders,... Ya gotta Look...

You'll see a little screw or cap, usually at a corner, or end of a straight run....
