Hot capacitor?

Went to an intermittent no cool call today and came across a capacitor rated for 55/5/440 that tested 54/4.8 so well within specs. It was very hot to the touch which I have never seen before. Do they get hot before swelling up? Replaced it to be safe and the system is working fine now, well fine as it can with a .85 static on a system that lists max external static .5".

Swelling is usually from over heating. The oil boils/expands and bugles the housing.

Thanks beenthere. Did not know that.

Did you check the voltage and amps draw of the compressor? I always do that when changing caps so I don't get callbacks and da Boss saying why didn't you do that.

Sure did yuri. Fan and compressor amps, voltage, capacitor reading, pressures,SH,SC,return temp and supply temp go on every ticket.
