Hose Bib is Leaking

My outside hose bibb is leaking. It's probably the original one from 1977. Is it worth repairing? If I replace it, is it easy to do? What is the best hose bibb?

Can you take some pics? I've never heard of a hose bibb.

A 1977 house will probably have galvinized piping. Turn off the water to the house and replace it with the boiler rated hose bib and some teflon tape from Home Depot or Lowes.

A 1987 house might have copper piping and might involve a propane torch, flux and a 1/2" x 1/2" copper female adaptor as well as the boiler rated hose bib.

The boiler rated bib is worth the extra 99 cents in my opinion.

What does any of this have to do with HVAC other than a boiler valve was used in place of a sillcock? I must be missing something all around on this one.

It's a valve, we can help. I repair or replace more valves than motors every year (usually proportional chill water valves).

I had the same problem with my hose Bibb. I assume it is a frost proof sillcock since it is on the outside of the house. I replaced the valve packing on mine and it has held ever since.
