Horizontal ground loop questions with geothermal
I'm researching geothermal water source heat pumps and cannot find the details I want to know about using horizontal ground loops. Details you may need to know about my house
-Houston, TX area for the installation
-2225 sq ft primary with 500 sq ft bonus room (bonus room will not be finished for a few years but I want to size the system for it)
-3 acres, so plenty of room for horizontal
Now the ?'s
-In the Houston area what is the recommended depth for the pipe installs?
-How many feet per ton should I expect.
-What spacing should be maintained between horizontal runs?
-Is it recommended to stack the pipes in the hole (i.e. put the first 6' deep, cover it with 3' and put another run and finish filling)?
-Is regular backfill soil recommended? I've read some about special mixtures to put around the pipes. Mine is a mixture of gumbo and topsoil.
Thanks in advance,
I'm don't design systems, but go to waterfurnace.com you might find some of your answers there.
