I read through all the old posts on this topic as well as the on-line Honeywell manuals. One thing I haven't figured out yet - do these steamers sit there boiling water 24/7 just waiting for a humidity call? Otherwise, wouldn't there be a heat-up time delay whenever the furnance came on before the steam appeared? The high electricity useage has me concerned, but for my application, they seem to be the right fit. Also, my furnace in the basement is next to the hot water heaters. It would be so easy to connnect the drain spigot from one to the steamer and be ahead of the game by about 60 degrees. Thanks for any advice.
They are "on demand" and it takes 4-5 mins. B4 steam appears which can be an issue with shorter furnace cycles. Only cold water from the city will work with them. They don't like well water and scale up easy with that. Need large ductwork and lots of airflow or they don't work well.
"Cut it twice and it is still too short".
