I have a Honeywell s9201a
the heat stopped working last night, I have an automatic ignition, so I have tried restarting the system and it only blows cold air. also my humidifier is now leaking and not circulating into the system. I do not know what else to try

the furnace would stay on, it will blow out air (not warm) and then it would just shut off. no way to tell if any burn is in progress, it don't think it does. any advice is appreciated

what is the sequence of noises? does it sound like it 'wants to' fire up?
is there a small window to see inside whether or not there's a fire happening?
i see the gas is on, and the switch is on. is the thermostat set to 'auto' and heat?

no heat

the sound like the burner is going but can't really tell because no window to look into, other sounds a surge of gas blowing, but for a second, then the motor runs for 1 or 2 min and then the blower kicks in, but no heat. it will run for a good maybe 4 min and then shuts off..

That ceramic looking part just left of the burner is your ignitor. Check for continuity or carefully remove and check for cracks. Your discription sounds exactly like a broken ignitor would behave

Probably a bad HSI. (Hot Surface Ignitor)
Or, the nuts on the outer housing come loose, and won't let the pressure switch close. Make sure they are tight.
Just above gas valve and to the left of the burner.

Oh, and that model is know to rust out the heat exchanger. It should be checked.

Hi Everyone, thank you for your reply
Ok, after furnace being shut off and has not been on since, Ijust tried to reset the funace, the furnace did it normal operation, and there is heat blowing out, but then I noticed that water was leaking inside, seem to me it was coming from the humifier and wetting the burner.. then water was leaking to the lower unit and getting the control panel wet.
I shut down the humidifier and water stopped leaking, and furnace still plowing heat.
Is it possible, that over night while we were asleep the burner and all boads got wet and shut down the system? and now it is dry all working ok except for the humidifier.
Question- can the furnace continue to work properly without the humidifier water flow? Because to me with the Humifier working. the furnace is working ok, blowing heat... please advice

You can use it forever w/o a humidifier. Get the humidifier fixed.

Humidifier

What cause the Humidifier to start leaking

yuri 12-13-2009 02:21 PM

Depends on the type. Post some pics of it.

This is the humidifier unit

You would have to turn it on and see where the water is coming from. I suspect the drain line is plugged with iron/rust and if you open it up there is a wick/cartridge that needs replacing. There are also drip nozzles at the top of the cartridge which plug up from water mineral and need cleaning or it leaks/drips in the wrong direction.

Yuri, after whole morning checking the process of eliminations, found out that one of the water hose that lead to inside the furnace was kinked and no water was coming out of the tray. so therefor the water i was hearing from inside was from the tray, water was building up and wetting the burners. now unkinked the water tube and all working properly. but this is a temp fix for now until i get the water tube replaced with new.

You do need to open it and clean it and check the cartridge etc, normal maintenance anyway.
