Honeywel Gas Valve

My furnace won't ignite. When I push the grey button for the pilot and release it, the pilot goes out and the furnace won't ignite. Is there some check or adjustment I can do to make the gas valve operate.

Sounds like you need a new thermocouple.Suggest you buy only a Honeywell or Penn thermocouple, the off brands are junk.

Make sure that when the pilot is lit that you keep the grey button pushed down continuously for a minute before releasing it.
The thermocouple should be enveloped by the pilot flame. If not, then your furnace probably needs to be serviced.

If the pilot flame is yellow and looks lazy and not a strong mostly blue flame then you may need to clean the pilot assembly. It also could be the thermocouple is bad. The thermocouple is something you can replace fairly easily however I do not recommend that you try to service the pilot assembly yourself. Call a professional.
