Hiding Visible 2x4s Behind Vent Cover?

This isn't a huge deal either way - but I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on what I could do to 'hide' the joists/wiring that are behind this air vent.

Or is that just 'how it should be'?

Hiding Visible 2x4s Behind Vent Cover?

Flat black spray paint works better than anything. I used to do that on every new house I built, and I do it on my own home projects as well. Works great!

Just mask off around the hole to prevent overspray on the wall. Also helps to do it when the HVAC isn't on because the paint smell will circulate for a couple hours otherwise.
