hiding those ugly condensers..problem solved

just saw this on DIY "I Want That" and it can serve 2 purposes.besides looking like a bush in place and hopfully it doesn't starve or restrict the condensers air it looks good.the 2nd advantage you could run a copper line around the sides at the top nd feed water so the water trickles down the inlets and precools the inlet air on real hot days.the trade off of using water and saving WATTS on that bill is minimal...just needs to roll down and catch on the branches...as it evaps off the air going in will keep the unit working easier.if you want to get detailed install a 115V water solinoid and wire it into the T side of the compressor contact..so when the stat calls for cooling the water starts to trickle..definilty have a ball valve on the feeder line to adjust the water.water won't touch the condenser so no need for rot worry.......:wink: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BtpFp2dNOc4

Screams high head pressure, extremely hard to service and 100x's uglier than a condenser.

I'd charge an extra $50 if I had to deal with that thing. If I had to clean the condenser which that things again screams dirt trap, another $100.00.

You'll make a lot better than that Doc when the condensor fan motor dies and the compressor gets beat to death from lack of air flow.

sheesh, what's next? the condenser bedazzler, condensers available in a variety of colors including hot pink? anything that reduces airflow in and around a condenser is a stupid idea.

:laughing: :thumbup:

Yes! Yes! Yes!

Mosiac with glass, even.

Oops, the part of my brain that Daddy taught was asleep for a minute there. Sorry.

Block the air flow(???) was my first thought when I saw that segment. Might be good for hiding trash cans, though.

kidding me right.......:eek::eek::eek:

There is ONE mechanical advantage to this thing, and that is it keeps direct sunlight off of the condenser. During the summer, I get evening sun on my condenser, and makes the system less efficient. With this, the hot sunlight can be kept off of it, and reduce the head pressures.

The amount of solar heat your condenser gets, its so little it make no noticeable difference. the amount your house is getting, is a different story.

leave the top off for no discharge retriction,and trickling water down the sides has to pre cool the inlet air on those real hot days
