Help with Rheem Criterion Gas Furnace

I live in New Orleans, and the cold weather season just about started so this is the first time running the heat for the winter this year...

My AC (cold air) works fine.
However, my heat works every now and then. Following things have happened in the last 7 days:

- Heater worked for a bit without any issues
- Then, i replaced the batteries since the battery low indicator was blinking
- Then, in ON position, the air was blowing but No Heat.
- Then, I pressed Reset and then the Heater worked once it was cranked up all the way to 80, but was not working when it was around 73
- Now, it's not working again regardless of which temperature I set it at

Bottom line is that it is working sporadically.

Any ideas on what's going on?

Help with Rheem Criterion Gas Furnace

First step I'd bypass the Tstat by remove the cover and jumper R-W.

Model numbers would help to know what type of heating system you have.

Help with Rheem Criterion Gas Furnace

I'd do what JJboy said first, bypass the stat. Jump r-w. Two ways to do this; remove the face of the stat to expose wire terminals or in the furnace at the control board.

Help with Rheem Criterion Gas Furnace

UPDATE:

I've noticed for the last 3 days that the heater will work normally between the hours of 5 PM and 11 PM

However, does not work overnight to early morning.

AND NO my t-stat is not a programmable one.
