Help Please ! heat pump tstat wiring issues Maybe?
Ok so i am going to get started and give you the whole story so you can get a feel for what is going on....
I had a gas Heater (home unit) ran great. my ac went out this summer..
a friend had a heat pump he gave me it was a coleman. My friend is a Hvac tech. we installed and ac worked great. well now its cold.. and my gas heater ran and worked fine for a few weeks and the gas valve started buzzing. and the it stoped working. he come and looked at it and the 24V trans had went we replaced it also fried the tstat i had an old one laying around wired it back up. woke up the next morn to the house at 45. no heat. i called him and he came back, and the transfromer was dead and the control borad was dead, fried the other tstat also. so... at this point i had to get a new heater installed. we put the new heater in. everything worked great wired up heat pump the next day and it ran everything just like it should... or so i thought. woke up the next day and it fried the transformer and borad in new heater.... so to slove the issues this is the steps i have taken
New Tstat wire from Thermostat to heater and new wire from heater to heatpump. also rewired the temp control on heatpump. Got a new tstat 3rd one.
heat is now only wired to Thermostat upstairs left heatpump unwired.
i bleave the heatpump has never been wired right from day one...
it has 7 wires coming into house... the heat pump is coleman. the wiring dig are not readable.
i would like to post the wire colors and terms on bored outside and have someone help me wire it up RIGHT. as this point they will not replace the mother board in heater again. my friend is kinda hard of seeing does really good work, just not able to do what i need him to do. i just want to make sure. everything is ok.. and should even try to wire it again.... would anyone be willing to help me with this issue if i get all the info they need?

ok so that is my info... i really hope someone can help me get it fixed.
Make your life real easy and get a bill porter duel fuel control instead of that relay. It's labeled well , easy to follow the instructions and cheap.
ok what is that?...
It's a control for heat pumps with gas furnace back up, a duel fuel control. Made by Bill Porter. Google "Bill Porter duel fuel control" .
yea that cost money i dont have to spend.. so i would like to just to be able to wire it up right.
Do you have a "Dual fuel" control? If you don't a heatpump will NEVER work with a furnace
ok... any idea why i would have to have one even it my tstat suppourts heat pump and gas?.... how much does one cost.
The Bill Porter duel fuel is less then $40.
What's your thermostat? If it has a menu to set up between gas or electric back up then it's probably built into the stat.
Post the brand and model of the relay box you're using. Maybe one of the guys will know how it's supposed to be wired with that information.
ok the tstat says it will run.... the following
24 volt and millivolt systems
up to 2 stage heating/ 2 stage cooling
electric air conditioning
gas, electric and oil furnaces
gas and oil fired units
2 hot wire hot water, radiator
single and two stage heat pumps
the thermostat is a hunter 44860
and as far as the outdoor temp relay...
here is a link for the install of it... its the single. not dual
You need a dual fuel kit!
I would recommend a different setup all together, such as an Honeywell IAQ stat which acts as duel fuel kit. As you said, you don't want to spend any money :wallbash::cursing:, however to install it properly you are going to have to spend money because your setup is wrong!!!
