Help with new duct work trunk running to attic from basement.

Last winter when we purchased our home we had new duct work installed throughout the home (see other posts for reasons...)

The new duct work runs from the basement up to the attack and then branches out to the 2nd floor rooms that way. This new "trunk" was run using up two closets. The work did not include carpentry in the estimate; so the duct work is there and there are big holes in the floor/ceiling of the closets going up to the attack. This joins the attic, first floor, second floor and basement air zones to each other.

What is the proper way to seal this off? I don't want to frame around it if that isn't the correct choice; but air can easily travel from the attic to the basement (etc). I would like to close this off first in the basement ceiling; and then in the attic floor.

Advice? Suggestions?

(Edit: grammar, etc).

Add fire blocking (wood ) where ever you can and then seal the gaps using fire stop foam---

No gaps that will allow fire or air to spread from floor to floor.

I had an inspector tell me this summer that fire stop caulking was not an approved fire stopping method anymore. It still boggles me every time I see it in the supply house.

I can put the wood right up against the duct? I was thinking wrap the duck with the metalic backed insulation; put the wood almost up to that and then fill with the fireblocking foam?

Foil faced insulation and then fire caulking it is ok. Then you can chase it after that if you want.
