Help me pick new Setup

Hello All

We just moved in November 2012. Heat wave in Toronto started June 2013. AC has no Freon (Goodman) and not fixable. So we need a new AC. The furnace is a Trane XR90 (builders grade, built in 2004). Everyone but option 1, says my furnace looks fine, doesnt need replacing, but its up to you.

Here are my options

Option 1 - $7550 + tax (13%)
Kenmore AC 2.5 ton- 14.5 seer
Kenmore Furnace 76160 - Two Stage Variable Speed gas furnace (96 AFUE)
10 year parts/labour

Option 2 - $6400 + tax (13%)
Lennox XC14.5 3.0
Lennox EL296V
Air Media filter
thermostat
10 year parts

Option 3 - $6800 (including taxes), passed it up at $6500, so i could get a second opinion.
York 16.5 (YCJF) 3.0 ton
York furnace - YP9C - modulating
thermostat
a/c cover
Air Media filter
10 year parts/labour

Why do i want a new furnace, well, i had a bad experience (broke down in the middle of a cold winter storm) with babies in the house. There is rust in spots in and outside the furnace, and the pipes are not to today's code and the intake, takes air from my basement, it doesnt vent outside.

please help me make an inform/educated decision

Brand isn't real important. Features can be. And the installer definitely is.

Which one took the most time to find out what you need, and expect from your new system.

Funny thing

they all took the roughly the same amount of time, all commented how bad the original install of the AC is. (and it is, even to a layman person like me).

Kenmore guy - was more pushy - "i guarantee we are the best.. " , "Trust Me" and "You have to work with me" and then i told him "its my money, you have to work with me" - he didnt like it, that was the nail in the coffin for me. Also, he is coming in more expensive than the other two and i got him contradicting himself many times.

york guy tried hard to close the deal on the spot - by lowering his price to $6500.

Lennox and york guy both said, i dont need a furnace, but its up to you. Somewhat a better deal if i get both. However, they both said that since we are here, for a nominal amount, they would fix my furnace's intake and outtake pipe.

They all explained everything, said they would install everything properly.

Price and features seem roughly the same, but one furnace is modulating (not two stage).

Fixing - its the freon R-10, i think, the Freon apparently is not made anymore and they would charge $85 a pound, and the condenser coil is not fixable - that is where one leak is (apparently), the other by the evaporator coil.

R22.

The York furnace is a comfort furnace, provides very even heat through out the house if the duct work is proper.
