Help with LuxPro PSP722E Thermostat

I have a single stage heat pump with propane backup/aux heat.

1. Should I set the Luxpro 722 to be 1 stage or 2 stages of heat?
2. How do I control the point at which the Aux Propane comes on? The Swing setting looks like it MIGHT do this although it specifically says it controls multiple stages of heat/cool. Since my heatpump is single stage, I don't know if the AUX heat is considered a 2nd stage. Or is there another way to control how much temp variation there is in the room temp and the set point before the AUX comes on?

Set your t-stat for 2 stage heat. your heat pump will be first stage and gas heat will be 2nd stage or Aux.

Does your stat have an emergency heat function? If not, then you don't have a stat that is compatible with your system

I don't think that thermostat is a dual fuel capable thermostat.

Yes, the stat does have Emergency heat function. Yes, it is clearly compatible with my system.

ridgevilleac, thanks for the info. Do you have any idea on how to adjust when the 2nd stage comes on? Is this the 'swing' settings, or is there another way to control this? I am expecting there to be the ability to set the stat so if the set point is more than 'x' degrees from the room temperature, then turn on the AUX heat. OR... if the 1st stage runs for more than 'x' minutes and does not reach the setpoint, then turn on the AUX heat.

Does it say dual fuel compatible in the instructions anywhere.

Manual says UNIVERSAL compatibility. Works with all systems, Heat Pump, Oil, Gas, etc.

Ok. So then in the manual. You see a section that tells you how to set up the lock out temp for the furnace. Right. And it doesn't run the heat pump and furnace at the same time right.

If you have just a standard hp stat a outdoor stat and lock out relay are required I would recommend a pro to install. Honeywell makes a stat called prestige comes with a outdoor sensor. Very easy
