Heil Gas Furnance intermittent igniter
I have a 13-15 year old Heil NUGM100EHA1.
I have had a problem with intermittent heat which looks to be because the ignitor is not always lighting. Problem happens 1-2 times per week. Since late Nov. When the problem occurs the exhaust fan is always running but the ignitor and burner don't light. At first I thought the problem was the pressure valve but I jumpered the valve and the problem still occurs. The ignitor ohms out at 9 ohms. The ignitor is driven thru the Honeywell smart valve (originally 1009089 / a current replacement is a SV9501M2528)
What should be the normal ignitor resistance? What should be the output driving the ignitor?
Here is the odd part every time the ignitor doesn't light if I play with the three wire ignitor connector it fires and will be fine again for several days. I suspect a bad component or solder joint on the honeywell smart valve but would appreciate any help in troubleshooting the problem.
It is a bad solder joint on the valve board. The only option is to replace the valve. Less than 10 ohms is what the ignitor should read. Some times you can wedge something in the plug to get you by until you replace the valve.
Heil - Gas Valve
Thanks for the help confirming my thoughts. Based on your response I assume the board must be designed such that a repair isn't reliable and replacement is the only way to go.
Thanks for the help.
