I have a Heil furnace
The pilot lights but the burners wont kick in. First the pilot lights, then after a minute or so the blower fan kicks in. The burners never ignite. I have the model with the continous retry 90 sec ignition module and the honeywell vr8204m1075 gas valve. I have checked for 24v at mv and mv/pv at the valve and good there. any ideas. also the pilot has a metal prong kinda like a 2 prong fork with the igniter and pilot orfice. everything seems okay, just burners wont light.
If you have 24 volts at mv (main valve) and it does not open then the valve has failed closed. That S86 system and that valve are at least 25 yrs old and may be 30 so it failed from old age. I would buy a new furnace as the heat exchanger is probably cracked from age. less than 5% of those units left running where I am, most have been replaced.
