Have you considered installing a heat pump? Seems to me like your throwing alot of money away heating your house with straight electric.

Heil Electric furnace tripping breaker

Came home tonight to no heat and upon opening the furnace, I see the wires feeding 1st & 2nd sequencers have burned, the first completely burned off, the other with melted sheathing and fused to an adjacent wire. No burned fuses, no tripped breakers. I can't see the lower coils with out bulling the blower or the whole coil assy. Can anyone tell me what the likely cause is and how to go about testing?

Both feeding from the same fuse block. No burned fuses, no tripped breakers. I can't see the lower coils that these two wire feed with out pulling the blower or the whole coil assy. Can anyone tell me what the likely cause is and how to go about testing?

Heat is created in the poor transfer of energy.

Loose or corroded connections got hot and melted is the most common cause.

It still wouldn't be a bad idea to remove power and pull and inspect the heat strips (or have this done).

So i pull the unit and find a broken coil, then i can replace, rewire sequencers and not be concerned about failed/damaged sequencers or do i test them?

Why is it that the fuse or breaker or other fail safe doesn't fail before wires burn?

Seems silly to me barring any obvious defects!

So the wire burned off and the connectors still look good?
That is unusual. Do you have pictures?

Generally happens when the connection was loose, or corrosion prevented good electrical contact..

The wires that burned as pictured were both on the same tap. One burned completely off at the screw connecting it to power, the other just melted sheathing for two inches or so. Wires that burned are pliable as new an inch or so from the burned areas, other ends connected to sequencers look normal, as new.
