Heil AC Fan wont turn on

My Heil bmm060nkb bm2620ga Ac wont come on. It sounds like it tries then kicks out then tries again in a few seconds but wont come on. I tested the run capacitor - it measured 12.4 uf and on the capacitor it says 15uf. Do I need a new run cap or can someone point me in the right direction.

I am stuck with DIY because after calling 48 repair places the earliest anyone can com is next thursday and it will cost 400.00 per hour. I doi live in the sticks.

I am pretty good with my hands but want to get expert advice first. None of these guys would even talk to me.

The years ago I changed the time delay relay. The unit is about 14 years old.

Thanks in advance for any help I can get.

I capacitor will also have a percentage rate printed next to the uf number, would look something like this on your 15uf:

15uf +/- 10%

What that means is this particular cap is good for that motor for up to 1.5 above 15uf (16.5) to 1.5 below 15 (13.5uf), taking 10% of 15 and adding or subtracting from it to achieve that number range. Your actual cap may only be plus or minus 5%, not 10. The percentage rates vary per cap.

Most condenser fan motor capacitors are not going to be above 10% of the uf number. Change that cap, it's too weak to start that motor.

make sure you discharge the cap before you touch it, if you don't know how make sure you don't touch the leads or you'll get a little surprise.
