Heating system

New to this site. I was looking for opinions on a price quote. I am in the process of purchasing a home in Allenstown NH. It is a 2 BR 1 BA 1275sf ranch with a 1 car garage.
The boiler was originally coal but was converted to oil at some point. The home was built in 1951. Pretty sure this converted unit is the original!!
Suffice to say it could stand to go!! Oh yea, the hot water is from the boiler as well with no tank.

The estimate I got was to replace this with a High efficiency Boiler running on propane . The hot water would still be off the boiler but with a tank. I know minimal amounts of info about HVAC, I'm a PC/motorcycle geek!! LOL

Anywho his estimate includes this boiler, which he said would be in the 95% to 98% range for efficiency, installed with the water tank and the old system removed for $6500. He tells me that this is a very good deal, and I just wanted to make sure that it was. I thought it would be less money, but I admittedly know very little about this subject so I was hoping to hear from some of you that know far far more then I do!!

I would just like to verify that this is at least a reasonable deal. I realize you can all only tell so much from a description , I have told everything that I am aware of here. If any of you have any questions about and info that I left out please let me know!!

Thanx
Keep smilin

Being a DIY site. Pricing questions don't do well, as most people here don't pay contractors do do things for them. Kind of defeats the purpose of DIY whe you have a contractor do the work for you.

Prices vary greatly in the same area from one contractor to another, let around the world like this forum is.

Your best bet is to get at least 2 more estimates from local contractors, and then compare what your getting from each contractor, including the warranty they will provide after the install. Remember, manufacturers don't pay contractors labor for warranty work. We are expected to include that in our install price.
