Heating is in place. Cooling?
Moved into a one-story house, the gas-furnace is in the middle of the unfinished basement, all the duct-work is visible and accessible. The duct-work is not insulated.
If I wanted to install AC, would the easiest and cheapest way be to replace the gas-furnace with a furance that also does AC and insulate the ducts?
For AC, all the HVAC contractor does, is install a A-Coil, and put the Condenser unit outside. Your Furnace should be okay, unless it is really old, and needs replaced. As for Insulating, it is up to you, if you have problems with condensation or not.
