Heater Issue

I was hoping I could get some advice on a heater issue I am having.

The issues is that when I turn my thermostat to warm and move the temperature up the system light comes on but no heat blows out. The oddity here is that if I leave it on heat it will begin to blow randomly. Sometimes it will happen the same day and sometimes it will be 3 days later. Also, I can get the air conditioner to work plus get the fan to blow. The heater is a Trane as is the Thermostat and they both came with the house. I am unsure what model the heater is but the Thermostat is a XT302B.

I am completely ignorant in the ways of HVAC so any advice or ideas would be great and very very much appreciated.

Thank you,
Dan.

We really need a model # from the furnace and air conditioner or heat pump. Remove the front door of the furnace and look inside. Should be a sticker on the outdoor unit. Is it a heatpump?.

Yeah. Afraid no way to know if you have a heat pump, and electric furnace, or a gas or oil furnace. From your brief description.

I was able to find what kind of heater it is and the model number as well.
It is a trane XL1200 and the Model Number is YCY030FLM099.

Maybe that will help.
Thanks for the rapid response though.
