heater blower won't turn off

I had the heat on a little while ago (why I was running it in the middle of summer is a much longer story). I turned the heat off several hours ago now but the blower is still running. I power cycled the unit at the breaker and the blower turned back on immediately, I also disconnected all the wires at the thermostat and toggled every setting on it I could thing of and the thing is still running.

Any advice? Time for a replacement? This heater is atleast 25 years old and probably needs to be replaced anyway.

It is a Sun Dial brand the model is GH2M040H3.ON7C.

And I just realized this may be part of the class action against consolidated furnace if that is what you were getting at.

No, but I have heard that the venting on some of those units has poisoned some people and they are unsafe to use. Probably your fan control or relay on the circuit board is stuck on. Time for a new furnace for safety reasons. Lots of rebates available to upgrade so the timing is good.

You have several possible problems depending on the system construction. A temperature disk switch to cut the fan on when the heater has reached "warm'" is stuck in the on position. The heater controller is stuck in the "on' position. The fan relay has pitted and closed contacts. Someone has to look fer it.

The wiring diagram, or what used to be a wiring diagram, has faded to the point of being a single solid color blank label on the machine there are a few very very faint lines I can make out but that's it.
